The price makes it an excellent value, especially considering it earned the highest nighttime video score in our tests with excellent range and clarity in total darkness. In daytime testing, the NetCam had average video quality in bright and low light situations, and while its 720p video resolution doesn't hold up to the 1080p cameras in our review, it’s sufficient for most people. Unfortunately, the Belkin NetCam HD+ had the lowest audio quality in our tests; it was unintelligible. However, audio is arguably less important than video for the purposes of an inexpensive security camera. We had some trouble setting up this camera, largely because it felt less stable than other cameras we tested. After setup, it was relatively easy to use due to an intuitive mobile app, though it doesn't let you schedule when to record video. Belkin uses the cloud to store video recordings from the NetCam, as long as you pay a subscription fee of $5. 99 each month – very competitive with other cloud storage plans. The camera also works with Belkin's WeMo smart home devices as well as voice control services such as Amazon Alexa and Google Home. The Belkin NetCam HD+ has a two year warranty, the longest in our comparison.

Motion detection can be adjusted to weed out false alarms when the camera learns to deem passersby as unimportant. The camera resolution is 1080p, even though Amazon's press materials and its own website say 'HD' which could easily mean 720p. We've confirmed it's actually Full HD. It also runs off of a rechargeable battery located on the plastic housing that's inside the door. There's no need to have an existing doorbell chime or to mess with any wires. Your landlord can't complain, as long as you don't have even more draconian condo rules in which nothing can be outside. If you can't hang a wreath during Christmas, you probably can't hang a video doorbell of any sort. The Door View Cam right and Ring's four other video doorbell camera optionsEarly verdictIt's funny – young, tech savvy apartment renters haven't been able to become early adopters of video doorbells simply because existing options require drilling. That's why the Ring Door View Cam could lead to a surge in adoption.
